How to Pray in Congregation at Home Due to COVID-19?

Can I Pray Jumuah at Home If There Is No Space at the Masjid?

Praying Jumuah at Home

Question:

Can I pray Jumuah (Friday Prayer) at home with my family if there is no place at the Masjid?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

It is established in the Quran and Sunnah that the Friday prayer is obligatory upon every adult sane Muslim. Allah Almighty says,

“O you who have believed, when the call to prayer is made for Jumu`ah [Friday prayer], then proceed to the remembrance of God and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew”. (Jumuah 62: 9)

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) cautioned against neglecting the Friday prayer (without a valid excuse) stating that Allah will seal the heart of whoever neglects to observe the Friday prayer three times in a row. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “He who leaves the Friday prayer (continuously) for three Friday on account of slackness, Allah will print a stamp on his heart.” (Authenticated by Al-Albani) This demonstrates the obligatory nature of the Friday prayer.

However, considering the case in question, the inquirer is unable to observe the Friday because no space at the masjid. Dr. Muhammad Salah talks in details about this ruling.
