Salam. I an new to Islam. I want to pray but I am physically disabled. I recently had my left foot amputated. I was searching for a video on disabled prayer but I cannot seem to find one. Can you direct me to one or possibly make one? Thank you so much for your time. Your site has been so very helpful.
Thank you very much for your question. It is our pleasure to answer it.
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.
The Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him), in response to Imran Ibn Hussain asking how to perform his prayers when he was suffering from haemorrhoides, instructed, "Pray standing, and if you can not, then sitting down, and if you can not, then lying on your side" (Al-Bukhari).
Dear sister, if it is not possible for you to stand for Prayer, or doing so risks causing harm to you, you may perform your prayers sitting on the floor or a chair. You should perform the movements of sujud and ruku to the best of your ability i.e. lean forward from your seated position if it is safe for you to do so. If you can not sit then you may perform your prayers lying on your side with your feet facing the Qibla. You should perform the movements of sujud and ruku to the best of your ability by moving your head.
You can also watch this helpful video that will explain how to pray while sitting or other positions.
And Allah knows best.
