Of all the places on this earth, the mosques are the dearest to Allah, and the markets are the most offensive to Him. Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The dearest parts on the face of the earth near Allah are its mosques, and the most hated parts near Allah are its markets.” (Muslim)

There are many virtues of going to the mosques for prayer:
1- Removing one’s wrong actions and sins, and elevating one’s rank in Jannah (Paradise)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “He who purifies (performs Wudu’) himself in his house and then walks to one of the houses of Allah (mosque) for performing an obligatory Salat, one step of his will remove his sins and another step will elevate his rank (in Jannah).” (Muslim)
2- The greatest reward for the Prayer are those who live furthest away from the Mosque
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The person who will receive the highest reward for prayer is the one who comes to perform it in the mosque from the farthest distance. And he who waits for prayer to perform it with the Imam (in congregation) will have a greater reward than the one who observes it alone and then goes to sleep.” (Agreed Upon)
3- Having a full light on the Day of Judgment.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Convey glad tidings to those who walk to the mosque in the darkness. For they will be given full light on the Day of Resurrection.” (Abu Dawud)
4- Frequenting the mosque for prayer is a sign of faith.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “If you see a man who frequents mosques, then testify to his belief. Allah, the Mighty and Exalted, says, “The mosques of Allah should only be frequented be by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day…’ (9:18)” (At-Tirmidhi)
5- Waiting for the next prayer after praying is equivalent to Jihad.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “And waiting for the next prayer after observing Prayer; and that is Ar-Ribat, and that is Ar-Ribat.” (Muslim)
6- One is regarded in prayer as long as one is waiting for the prayer.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “And one is regarded in prayer as long as one is waiting for the prayer.” (Al-Bukhari)
7- Allah prepares a residence in Jannah for anyone who goes to the mosque morning and evening.
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “He who goes to the mosque in the morning or in the evening, Allah prepares for him a place in Jannah whenever he goes to the mosque in the morning and returns from it in the evening.” (Agreed Upon)
