Finding Wetness After Waking up

Question:

What is the ruling of finding wetness after waking up? Is it madhi or mani? Does it require performing ghusl or wudu?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, we praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

If one finds wetness, this must mean one of the following:

1 – That one is certain that it is mani (semen), in which case ghusl is obligatory according to scholarly consensus.

2 – That one is certain that it is not mani, in which case ghusl is not obligatory, but this liquid must be washed away, because in this case the ruling is the same as the ruling on urine.
