In this episode, Sheikh Mufti continues his interesting talk regarding the second pillar in Islam, that is prayer.
He begins this talk by explaining the feelings of the believer when he hears the words of the Adhan (call to prayer) unlike those who take it and prayer as ridiculous. The Almighty Allah says:
And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason. (Al-Ma’idah 5:58)
Second, obligatory prayers are spaced along the day and the night at fixed times, so the Muslim be in a state of remembrance all the time. The Almighty Allah says:
And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. (Hud 11:114)
Third, the prayer is one of the fundamental means that expiates sins. The Almighty Allah says:
I am with you. If you establish prayer and give zakah…I will surely remove from you your misdeeds… (Al-Ma’idah 5:12)
Fourth, laziness in prayer is one of the characteristics of the hypocrites. The Almighty Allah says:
Indeed, the hypocrites [think to] deceive Allah , but He is deceiving them. And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little. (An-Nisaa’ 4:142)
