What Is the Ruling on Prayer of One Who Falls Asleep in Sujud?

The Ruling on Prayer of One Who Falls Asleep in Sujud

Question:

I was very tired while praying, so I remembered that I felt asleep during sujud (prostration). Do I have to repeat that prayer?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright.

Such prayer is invalid because you had fallen asleep in it, and if it was a deep sleep this invalidates ablution. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “The eyes are the drawstrings of the anus, so one who sleeps should perform ablution.” (Abu Dawud)
