Punishment for Leaving Prayer

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The first action for which a servant of Allah will be held accountable on the Day of Resurrection will be his prayers. If they are in order, then he will have prospered and succeeded: and if they are wanting, then he will have failed and lost.” (At-Tirmidhi)

In this short talk, Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury gives us a powerful reminder about the punishment for leaving prayer which is the second pillar of Islam and the first deed for which a servant will be held accountable for on the Day of Judgment.

Sheikh Tawfique begins his talk by reciting the following verse,

The Day the shin will be uncovered and they are invited to prostration but the disbelievers will not be able. (Al-Qalam 68:42)

This means that if one fails to offer prayers in this worldly life, Allah will disgrace, punish, and throw one into the hellfire in the Hereafter. Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, “Anyone who misses one prayer intentionally then he becomes a disbeliever.”

Enjoy watching this talk with Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury to know more about the punishment  for those who leave their prayer.
