It was in Makkah that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was visited by the Archangel Gabriel. From there, the Prophet was miraculously transported from his home in Makkah to Jerusalem, riding Al-Buraq, a celestial steed said to travel at the speed of light.
Upon arriving in Jerusalem, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) led the previous prophets in prayer at Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa. Following this, he ascended through the heavens, and it was during this miraculous journey that Salah (prayer) was established and made obligatory upon Muslims.
To this day, the nation of Muhammad (peace be upon him) continues to respond to the call to prayer, offering their gratitude, praise, and remembrance of Allah (subḥānahu wa taʿālā – Exalted is He).
As the sound of the Adhan (call to prayer) echoes across the globe, Muslims pause their activities, turn toward their Lord, and engage in worship—thanking Him, remembering Him, and bowing down in humility and devotion.
Salah is the most important pillar of Islam after the declaration of faith—the Shahadah:
Ashhadu an lā ilāha illa Allāh, wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan Rasūlu Allāh
(I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is His Messenger).
The purpose of this project is to introduce Salah to those who are unfamiliar with how to perform it—whether complete beginners, those with some understanding, or individuals seeking to perfect their prayer
